Sun: Thrives in plenty of bright, indirect light. Sunlight filtered through a sheer curtain and bright rooms with a south-facing window will provide ample light for the Ric-Rac. Avoid direct sunlight.

Water: Water thoroughly when the soil is 50%-75% dry. This cactus is native to tropical rainforests and is not as tolerant of extended droughts. Wrinkled leaves are a sign of thirst. Reduce watering frequency during fall and winter.

Air: This tropical cactus prefers a bit of humidity but will do well in average indoor conditions. Increase humidity around your plant by:
• Misting 2-4x per week
• Creating a Pebble Tray that lives underneath the pot
• Adding a humidifier nearby
• Placing in a bathroom or kitchen, with suitable lighting

Plant Lifecycle

The Ric-Rac is a unique cactus with thick, flat stems and zig-zagged edges. Each stem can grow about 12 inches long and will begin to trail over its pot as it grows. When provided with a trellis or wire, the stems can instead be propped upright to your creative design.

Native to the tropical rainforests of Mexico, this cactus actually prefers slightly moist conditions compared to its relatives. If you're lucky, you may even see it bloom beautiful flowers for one night. To extend its life, provide well-draining, loose soil designed for cacti and succulents.
