Care info

Sun: The Prickly Pear Cactus requires plenty of bright light. Sunny windows and direct light are best for its health and growth.

Water: This cactus stores water, making it drought-tolerant and hardy to some periods of neglect. Water deeply after the soil has fully dried. This may be as infrequent as every 3-6 weeks. Reduce frequency during fall and winter.

Air: Its native environment is warm and dry, so average indoor air works well. Outdoors, it can survive in 30º-90º.

Spiritual Interpretation

FAQs

Is This Plant Pet Safe?

Keep Prickly Pear Cacti out of reach from curious pets. The fine hairs (glochids) can cause irritation and inflammation.

What Health Benefits Does This Plant Provide?

Active exposure to and care for plants has many proven wellbeing benefits, such as:

• Lower stress levels

•Improved mood

• Superior mental clarity and focus

Houseplants are excellent air purifiers. They cleanse the air of indoor toxins, produce oxygen, and their humidifying capabilities will help you sleep + breathe better. Keep their leaves free of dust for optimal photosynthesis and oxygen production.

Plant Lifecycle

The Prickly Pear Cactus is one of the most abundantly growing cacti in natural areas across the U.S. In your home, it can establish roots just as deep, living under your care for decades. It grows a few feet tall over its lifetime or even taller outdoors.

To extend its life, we recommend loose, well-draining soil (such as a quality succulent mix). A clay planter with a drainage hole is key to root and soil health.
