Haworthia
SUN |
The Haworthia prefers plenty of bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate medium light, access to a filtered south, east, or west-facing window is best. |
WATER |
Water well once the soil has fully dried, allowing any excess to drain. Since these plants are so petite, expect the soil to dry out faster than larger plants in the same environment. Reduce frequency during fall and winter. |
AIR |
Their native environment is warm and dry, so average indoor air works well. Maintain temperatures between 65º-80º and away from sources of humidity. |
PET FRIENDLY |
Haworthias are non-toxic and safe for cats, dogs and children. |
AESTHETIC |
Native to the dry lands of South Africa, this petite succulent survives on little water and plenty of light by storing water in its thick leaves. Haworthia leaves are densely packed in a rosette shape, usually with white specks forming in rows along each leaf. When exposed to full, direct sun, its color will change to a purple-pink hue. These slow growers tend to maintain their small size, rarely growing over 3”. |
HEALTH BENEFITS |
Active exposure to and care for plants has many proven wellbeing benefits, such as:
The Haworthia helps absorb carbon dioxide and other indoor toxins while releasing oxygen in return. This helps us breathe and sleep better. |
SPIRITUAL INTERPRETATIONS |
Succulents represent tenacity and unconditional love. The ability to survive under scarce conditions acts as a symbol of our own strength and a reminder to proactively care for ourselves. |

OUR RECS |
We recommend clay or terra cotta planters with a drainage hole to provide ideal moisture control and airflow for the Haworthia. These can skip a few years in between repotting, and should be in a planter of the same size or no more than 2 inches larger. Ideal soil is a cacti/succulent mix with drainage-enhancing amendments such as sand or perlite. |
Nature is unique - each plant may vary slightly from the plant shown here. Ceramic planters are sold separately.
